Morse code turns each letter into a short pattern of dots and dashes. It was invented for the telegraph in the 1830s and is still used by amateur radio operators, pilots identifying navigation beacons, and anyone who needs a signal that works with just light or sound. This translator works both ways and can play the code out loud so you can learn the rhythm.

Type your message in the Text box above and the Morse code appears instantly. Letters are separated by spaces and words by a slash. To decode, paste dots and dashes into the Morse code box and the English text appears. Press Play sound to hear it.
