This editorial policy explains how ToolsVortex builds its free online calculators, converters and guides, where our numbers come from and how we keep them accurate. It applies to every tool and article on the site, and we update it whenever our process changes.

What Does Our Editorial Policy Cover?
Our editorial policy covers four things: who builds and reviews each page, which sources we accept, how we test every calculator and how we correct mistakes. Every new tool and guide must meet all four before it goes live, and older pages are brought up to the same standard when we review them.
Who Writes and Checks Our Tools?
Every page is built and reviewed by the ToolsVortex Editorial Team. One person writes the formula and the explanation, and a second check confirms the results against worked examples before the page goes live. You can reach the team through our contact page, and the about page explains why the site exists.
Where Do Our Formulas and Figures Come From?
We use primary sources wherever they exist: government agencies such as GOV.UK, the NHS, the European Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the IRS, the CDC and NIST, standards bodies, peer reviewed research and manufacturer documentation. Each page lists its sources near the end, so you can check the figures yourself.
- Rates, thresholds and legal limits come from the official source that sets them.
- Unit conversions use exact defined factors, for example 1 inch equals 2.54 centimeters.
- Health estimates use published, peer reviewed formulas and say clearly that they are estimates.
- When a figure changes often, such as a local price, we make it an input you can edit instead of claiming a fixed number.
How Do We Test Each Calculator?
Before publishing, we run each tool against at least three hand checked examples, edge cases such as zero, empty and very large inputs, and both metric and imperial units where they apply. We also test it on a phone, a tablet and a desktop browser.
Calculations run in your browser, so the numbers you type and the files you choose are not sent to our servers. Image tools work the same way: compression and conversion happen on your own device.
How Do We Write Guides and Explanations?
Each guide starts with a short, direct answer, followed by the formula, a reference table and a worked example with real numbers. We write for readers in the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe first, so pages show metric units and euros or pounds by default, with US units where people use them.
We follow Google’s guidance on creating helpful, reliable, people first content: no filler, no invented facts and no pages written only to rank. We also aim to meet the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, with clear labels, keyboard friendly controls and readable contrast.
How Often Are Pages Updated?
We review pages when the underlying rules change, for example a new tax year, a new VAT rate, a new minimum wage or updated health guidance, and at least once a year otherwise. Each page shows when it was last reviewed.
Do We Use AI or Automated Tools?
We use software, including AI assistants, to help with research, drafting, screenshots and code. Under this editorial policy a person on the team checks every formula, figure and sentence before it goes live, and we never publish invented facts, reviews or credentials.
Are the Results Professional Advice?
No. Our tools give estimates to help you plan. For legal, tax, medical or financial decisions, check the official source or speak to a qualified professional. Our disclaimer explains this in more detail.
How Can You Report a Mistake?
If you spot an error, please tell us through the contact page with the page address and what looks wrong. We check every report, correct confirmed mistakes as quickly as we can and note significant corrections on the page.
Is ToolsVortex Independent?
Yes. No company pays to change a result or a recommendation on ToolsVortex, and we do not sell your data. If we ever add advertising or affiliate links, they will be clearly labeled, kept separate from the calculations and covered by this editorial policy.
